PROJECT Perception Surveys on Health Care Services
ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project involved assessment of health services quality in the rural and urban areas of Punjab, including evaluation of current structure of primary health systems, measuring the effective coverage of health services and identifying and quantifying the services provided by the public, private & voluntary sector including Indian system of medicine in rural areas.

SERVICES

•  Survey of the health services and users to assess the status of health services with respect to (i) Access and availability (ii) Acceptability (iii) Range (Service Mix) (iv) Quality of services (v) Effectiveness (vi) Appropriateness (vii) Efficiency (viii) Linkages with Secondary Health Care and (ix) Sustainability

•  Survey of health functionaries to determine training needs assessment of core functionaries and explores linkages between Secondary and Primary Health care system for expanding the use of trained manpower available with the PHSC.

•  Evaluation of current Health Information Monitoring system and suggest steps to strengthen the monitoring system for health indicators.

•  Assess the health seeking behavior of communities with regard to Indian Systems of Medicine & Homeopathy, study the appropriateness, acceptability of these services as part of Health Systems, and suggest practical ways for integrating them
