ABOUT THE PROJECT

In order to improve the quality of Life, the Development Authorities in these cities envisage having a Vision statement with perspectives of 5 Yrs, 10 Yrs, 15Yrs and 20Yrs for a balanced and Integrated Urban Development of their cities. IPE is involved as a Project Development Company (PDC) and is responsible for preparation of Vision and Strategy based upon four broad aims, which combine environmental, economic and social objectives in order to improve the overall quality of life through improved housing, infrastructure services, urban transportation systems, development of new townships and other public utilities. This can be achieved through institutional strengthening and which is accomplished through capacity building of the urban managers.

TIME PERIOD 15 months (total for all three projects)
SERVICES

•  Detailed study about housing needs prospect, power, water, sewerage, drainage, roads, street lighting, communication, environment, parks, parking zones and transportation forming a part of the vision statement was undertaken

•  A city Spatial Strategy Diagram was developed that covered the Primary Aim of the vision statement, strategic objectives and the Development Authorities general policies for the development and use of land within the City

•  A detailed framework was designed and policies were framed for sector specific vision for the development and use of land within the city for

•  Housing and Provision of Infrastructure facilities

•  Urban Transport systems

•  Public utilities

•  Community and Leisure Facilities

•  Passive Assets

•  Town Centres and Shopping

•  Need and development of new areas and mini townships

•  Industry, Trade and Commerce

•  Pollution and Natural Resources

•  Implementation and Monitoring of the framework was also designed to help in the effective implementation of the vision statement and to help provide feedback at each stage of implementation so that corrective action can be taken at the right time.

•  Detailed guidelines were also enumerated to improve the organizational management and effectiveness of Development Authority through Capacity Building and skill development of Urban Managers
