PROJECT Support to Municipal Corporation Ludhiana to Improve Access of Service to the Poor, Phase I & II, USAID FIRE/NIUA, India, February 2002 - April 2003
ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Project involved analysing the progress in the disinvestments of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) and formulating a programme to accelerate the disinvestments process. The tasks included setting up of a monitoring systems and key indicators to measure the progress in the reform process and the commitment of the government to the process.

TIME PERIOD 14 months
SERVICES

•  Held a series of Training Workshops for community workers;

•  Prepared 100 community level Digitized Household maps;

•  Organized a City Level Workshop for information dissemination;

•  Conducted situation analysis and primary surveys of 1200 household;

•  Charted out an action plans for community development and slum improvement for the chosen settlements;

•  Selection of five settlements for implementing improvements;

•  Designed and Implemented a City level action plan for increasing access of basic services to the poor;

•  Assessed the training needs of MCL staff and on the basis of that, developed Draft Training Modules for MCL staff training.
